Overview: When a little dog appears at a family picnic, the family plays with him all day and captures the family’s heart. When the family has to leave the dog they named Willy, the dog stays on their mind. The following weekend when they go back to find Willy they find that someone else is looking for Willy, a dogcatcher. This is a heartwarming tale of a stray dog that finds a good home.

Activity: After reading, using the ideas of sequence have students draw a picture illustrating beginning, middle and end.
