For Laughing Out Louder
Author/Illustrator: Selected Jack Prelutsky (Illus.) by Marjorie Priceman
Publisher: Alfred A. Knopf, Inc.
Publication Date: 1992
Genre: Poetry
Audience: Gr. Pre-K+
Overview: This book contains a bunch of silly, wacky, and gross collection of short poems written by various authors. The poems are so off the wall and so are the illustrations that accompany the collection. With each turn of the page, you get more wacky poems and even more outlandish pictures that will have you giggling right along regardless of your age.
Activity: Read a selected poem aloud in class. Then have the students go back to their desks and brainstorm what they thought of when they were read the poem. Then, read the poem to the students again and this time have decide on a theme or concept that they envisioned while listening to the poem a second time. They can now illustrate a paper with the poem written on the page, just like in the book! See how their creativity soars!
