Overview:
Laura Vaccaro Seeger’s book may not be able to answer the age old question of what came first, the chicken or the egg, but it is undeniably a must read. The cut-out illustrations help immerging readers make connections between different stages of life and various processes while helping to give clues on words that the reader may struggle with. Once you get through this book you most likely will want to flip the book back over and start again!

Activity:
Try to have students create their own cut out drawing. Make them each a four page booklets out of computer paper and see if they can create a drawing using this cut out method. Make sure that they do not get frustrated! Keep in mind this is a hard project. If they are having too much trouble with their own idea let them recreate one of Seeger’s illustrations.
