Overview: This wonderfully put-together compilation of poems is a great read around Halloween! The poems are fun and interesting, with their repetition and easy to follow rhythms. Many of the poems are traditional tales about what happens after dark, but there are also some creative ones about monsters escaping from zoos! A great poetry book for children of all ages.

Activity: Have children make up their own spooky poem. They can follow a theme in the book, add on to a poem they enjoyed, or make up a completely new one. After, have them read their poems aloud using puppets as characters.
