The author does a great job personifying the rabbit, and giving him all the human characteristics children want and believe their teddy bears have.

Activity: Have children bring their favorite toy to class, and have them share one of the most amazing stories or experiences they have shared with their toy. Then have them create their own “velveteen rabbit”, by using socks, cotton, eyes, noses, and whiskers. They can also paint and name their rabbit.
