The Red Book
Author: Barbara Lehman
Publisher: Houghton Mifflin
Publication Date: 2004
Awards: Caldecott Honor Book
Genre: Wordless picture book
Audience: Gr. Pre-K+
Overview: I thought this wordless picture book was a really nice allegory for books in general. In it, a girl finds a red book — just like the one the reader is holding — on her way to school. Its pictures show a boy on a beach finding another red book, and this one shows the girl at school. They see each other. They wave. And I'm not going to tell you what happens next.
