Overview: The story is based on a boat that dumped over bathtub toys. The rubber ducks fall overboard and they all float different ways with many different sea animals. There is a rubber duck squeak noise in the back of the book when you push a button. The story is simple, but Carle's painting and collage work is great.
Activity: Have your student create a collage as Eric Carle does, using lots of color and texture.
