When a sudden flood strikes, the old man continues to sit on his porch and play the fiddle as he is washed away. But that is not where the story ends. I enjoyed the book because the old man made me laugh to myself. You know what he is going to do but you continue to keep on reading.

Activity: Hand out simple instruments made from classroom objects and let the kids make a song.
